I had to take a break from the project but I’m picking it up again now and will make another attempt. For me, the days won’t be consecutive but they will continue until all 50 8×10 canvas boards are painted. I’m using Daler-Rowney FW acrylic ink.
Day #21
This is a likeness of a photograph my 10-year-old granddaughter took of herself using my phone.
Day #22
I didn’t manage to finish this one in only two days but for now I’m setting it aside so I can start another canvas. According to the terms of my project I’ll work on each canvas for two days then set it aside and start another. I can go back to this and finish it when the project is complete.
Day #23
Oh my goodness, this was more complex than I expected. It is from a photo of a group of people at our local art gallery about 2005.
Day #24
I do love this painting, but I didn’t finish it. This will be something for me to finish when I’m done with the 50 canvases.
Day #25
This is inspired by a photo of my son when he was about 12 but it doesn’t look like him exactly.
Day #26
I think this is one of my best to-date.
Day #27
I’m calling this one “New Year’s Eve Party Girl” for now.
Day #28
This was hard to paint because I chose the wrong photo to paint from. The girl is turned at a strange angle and her mouth was slightly open. Okay, maybe this was good practice for me. Also the face was completely lighted with no shadows. I need to be more careful in choosing photographs to paint!
Day #29
Day one – a sketch of my Idaho pastor.
Day #30
Day two – The painting… it turned out to slightly resemble him. I’m happy with this effort in my continuing effort to learn portrait painting. Took me long enough to do this though. I just finished reading The Letters of Vincent Van Gogh and was fascinated by his daily painting work… often one painting a day, toward the end, and they were some of his best. Today’s painting was done with only three colors of the acrylic ink: sepia, peach, and white!
Day #31
Day one – It is two boys facing off in some kind of water fight. I am loving this background using four shades of green.
Day #31
Day two – Water Fight Boys – because boys will be boys.
